The town of Damascus will host “Celebrate Damascus” on Friday and Saturday, including its annual parade, fireworks and town festival.
Friday’s activities include a parade and a fireworks display. The parade will start at 7 p.m. and travel from the Damascus High School parking lot up Md. 27 and Lewis Drive ending at the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department Activities Center. The fireworks display will be held at the activities center and begin at dark.
Saturday’s activities include a community breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at Damascus United Methodist Church; the Lions Club community flea market opening to the public at 9 a.m.; a cruise-in and swap meet at Damascus Motors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a community carnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a craft show and art exhibit hosted by the Damascus Community Recreation Center beginning at 10 a.m. at Md. 108 and Md. 124; and an open house at the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department. Free transportation around town will be provided by Montgomery County Fair trams.
